Electrical installation condition reports

I carry out domestic & commercial Electrical installation condition reports (EICR) as I am qualified accredited and insured to do so.

An Electrical installation condition report details the suitability of an existing electrical installation for continued operation, obtaining such a report on your home electrics is not currently a legal requirement, however it is recommended that you have your electrics checked every 10 years. For landlords it is there responsibility that the installation is in a safe condition throughout the term of the tenancy, that said they must have an EICR carried out every 5 years or change of occupancy.

An EICR will involve the testing and inspection of all final circuits, your consumer unit, protective devices, suppliers service head and earthing arrangements & bonding. The report issued will come back as satisfactory or unsatisfactory. The report comes in a coded format C1 danger present, C2 potentially dangerous, C3 improvement recommended, F1further investigation required without delay. These are listed as deviations from the regulations. Any C1,C2 or F1 would result in a unsatisfactory on the report.

An EICR is a very important document, at the end of the day its my name on the certificate to say that the ongoing electrical safety of the installation is in a good and satisfactory condition. So if there was ever an electrical fire or shock injury having a valid and current report will help you with any legal or insurance claims. That is why its very important to make sure you employ someone who is competent and insured to carry out such work. I'm qualified to the latest level 3 periodic inspection, testing and certificate of electrical installations & level 3 initial verification and certification of electrical installations. I also have public liability and indemnity insurance in place, there are sill lots of companies signing these reports without the proper accreditations in place.

It wont take you long to find cheaper prices than mine, I have seen companies advertising for a EICR'S for as little as £99, my prices are higher because I produce a honest reports, these companies will hope to get the report on the cheap and then charge you a small fortune for remedial work trying there best to fail the installation. If you do decide to go with a cheaper quote then make sure that you make them aware they wont be doing the remedial work, at least this will make sure they are less likely to make a big issue out of something minor.
